Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Comprehensive assessment and evidence-based intervention for
attention, focus, and impulse control challenges. Building executive
function skills for school and life success.

Description

Common challenges that children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) face during childhood include difficulty maintaining focus, waiting their turn, completing school work and/or tasks around the home, constantly forgetting things, being very easily distracted, struggling to pay attention, challenges with task completion, impatient and impulsive behaviour, and difficulty remembering things. These patterns persist across multiple settings (home, school, social situations) and significantly impact daily functioning.
Our detailed, in-person assessments include: Assessment of Overall Development, IQ (Intelligence Quotient) to understand cognitive profile, Motor Skills evaluation, Academic Skills assessment to identify learning gaps, ADHD-specific protocols and rating scales, Memory Assessment (working memory and attention span), Social Maturity Assessment, Adaptive Assessment for daily functioning, Visual Motor Integration Assessment, Intelligence Quotient testing, Sensory Processing Assessment, and in-depth discussion with parents about behaviour patterns across environments. All assessments are carried out by our team of paediatric experts.

Key point

All children are energetic and occasionally inattentive. ADHD is diagnosed when symptoms are severe, persistent (6+ months), present before age 12, occur across multiple settings (home AND school), and significantly impair functioning. Key differences: ADHD children struggle even in one-on-one settings, forget instructions immediately after hearing them, and have difficulty stopping behaviours despite consequences. If teachers consistently report attention or behaviour concerns, book an assessment.
Many children respond well to behavioural interventions, occupational therapy, and environmental modifications without medication. We focus on building self-regulation skills, creating structured routines, and training parents and teachers in effective strategies. For some children with severe symptoms, medication (prescribed by a paediatrician or psychiatrist) combined with therapy produces best outcomes. We collaborate with your medical team when medication is part of the plan.
ADHD assessment is comprehensive, including: IQ testing to rule out learning disabilities, attention and memory testing using standardised tools, academic skills evaluation, sensory processing assessment, and parent/teacher rating scales. We differentiate ADHD from anxiety, learning disabilities, sensory processing disorder, or normal developmental variation. Generic behaviour evaluations often miss underlying causes of inattention. Our assessment identifies specific intervention targets.
changes include: slightly longer attention span, reduced impulsive outbursts, better response to redirection. Significant improvements (completing homework independently, following multi-step instructions) typically emerge around 3 months with regular therapy and home practice. ADHD management is ongoing—we teach strategies your child uses lifelong, not quick fixes.
Yes. We provide comprehensive reports recommending appropriate accommodations: preferential seating, extra time for assignments, movement breaks, modified homework load, visual schedules, and organisational supports. We participate in IEP/504 plan meetings when needed and train teachers on evidence-based ADHD management strategies. Consistent approaches across home and school are critical for success.
